Jazz/Ballet & Hip-Hop Dance

 Description:

Our Most Popular Class in Elementary & Middle Schools! 5-6-7-8 Dance presents this dance combination class of three exciting styles including Jazz, Ballet and Hip-Hop! This is a great class for students who want to try different styles of dance. The ballet portion focuses on the basic ballet positions, terminology and movement. Students will learn a variety of ballet movements including balance, jumping, stretches and basic turns. The jazz portion of the class is fun way to learn about proper jazz dance technique, body awareness and muscle control while moving along to a variety of different music genres. In the hip-hop portion of the class students will learn choreographed and freestyle hip-hop dance movement giving them a chance to express their own style set to upbeat pop and hip-hop style music. Our version of hip-hop dance uses tasteful dance movement and age appropriate music. Set in a creative and encouraging environment, our class focuses on a proper warm-up, stretching, muscle control and dance terminology. Dance attire is totally optional. Classes are designed to accommodate a “come-as-you-are” group, though loose-fitting or athletic attire is best. Each 5-6-7-8 Dance session ends with a presentation to family and friends giving students a chance to present the different things they have learned during the session. All students will receive a Certificate of Participation.

A private & classroom lesson program with a traditional music education approach

 Lessons In Your Home has partnered with the Westminster School Enrichment Program to offer a well-rounded musical curriculum through private lessons and class options.  Our goal is to offer lessons that follow a traditional methodology and deliver a high-quality music education instructed by degreed and professional instructors. The Westminster School of Music’s lessons are tailored to each student’s current level and are cumulative.  Progress made in our program will contribute to a life-long appreciation of the arts and continued education based on skills garnered.

 What we teach in private lessons:  

 Technique – How to properly play the instrument
Repertoire – Learning progressive songs that can be shared with others
Theory – Understanding music notation from the onset of study.  Students will learn note duration, how to read the music staff, and interpret music in written form.

 Program Offerings:

 Guitar Lessons – Private 30-minute lessons each week

• *Once annual, $15 materials fee to cover books throughout the year
• *Showcases to demonstrate what students learn throughout the year
• *A guitar is required for the lessons; students may use their own instrument or purchase one from LIYH for $220 (correctly sized guitar and case)

Description:
Children will be encouraged to develop their mental, physical, and social abilities through creative soccer games and other activities taught by highly experienced staff, all trained to work with young children. Participants will learn individual skills, teamwork, and most importantly, have fun! Our emphasis is on mastering basic coordination and agility with and without a soccer ball, as well as on providing a confidence-building environment.

Attire: Athletic wear, proper outerwear, shin guards, socks, indoor soccer shoes or tennis shoes

Description:
TGA Premier Tennis Enrichment Programs combine athletics, academics, and life lessons for a fun and educational experience. We incorporate station-based athletic skill development and STEAM labs to explore educational concepts through tennis as well as key life lessons including teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership. All of TGA’s programs align with the US Olympic Committee’s American Developmental Model principals of age-appropriate activities that emphasize motor and foundational skill development.

Description:
In our fast-paced and technologically-advanced world, how do we convince children to slow down and put away the video game or take a break from the iPad? One answer might be found in yoga, as the practice helps individuals learn how to focus and center themselves. Children, especially, derive enormous benefits from yoga. This Yoga for Young Griffins course aims to improve your child’s strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Students will learn breathing and visualization techniques to help them relax. Through fun and challenging poses, partner and group activities, and lots of yoga games, children will learn how good it can feel to awaken our bodies, and calm our minds in this safe and fun environment.

Description:
Do you play games and wonder how they are created? Would you like to build your own computer programs? Come learn how at the Coding with Kids Academy! In this fun after-school class, you will be introduced to the core concepts of computer programming, including loops, conditionals and variables. Using the Scratch development environment, you will learn how to create your own programs, such as simple games, animations, and interactive stories. With new projects each session, you will be able to express your creativity and advance as a coder! Our progressive curriculum will allow you to move to the next level after just 1-2 sessions.
